AWS challenges facing growing SaaS and software platforms
As a software platform grows, AWS infrastructure can become more complex, expensive and difficult for the development team to manage.
Habitat3 can help when:
-
AWS costs are increasing faster than customer or platform growth
-
deployments are manual, inconsistent or risky
-
the production environment has security or compliance gaps
-
the architecture was suitable for an MVP but is struggling to scale
-
infrastructure knowledge is concentrated in one person
-
monitoring, backups and incident processes are incomplete
-
enterprise customers are asking difficult security questions
-
the development team lacks dedicated DevOps or platform engineering capacity
-
the business needs ongoing AWS management without building an internal cloud operations team

Alumnly
SaaS platform on AWS
Alumnly is an alumni-management SaaS platform for schools, colleges and universities. Habitat3 helped Alumnly establish a secure, scalable AWS foundation for its customer-facing SaaS platform. We designed the production architecture and built the infrastructure using a Terraform-first approach, creating a repeatable and consistently managed environment that can be extended as Alumnly’s platform and customer base continue to grow.
Customer type: Australian SaaS and independent software vendor
Requirement: a secure, repeatable AWS platform for a customer-facing software product
Habitat3 delivery: AWS architecture and Terraform-first infrastructure build
Technical proof: include the approved Habitat3 AWS architecture diagram from the Alumnly case study
Outcome: a structured AWS foundation that can be consistently managed and extended as the platform grows

OrderArt
SaaS platform modernisation
Habitat3 helped OrderArt modernise its established SaaS platform by re-architecting the AWS environment around a new secure Landing Zone and stronger cloud foundations. The engagement improved the platform’s security, reliability and ability to scale, while introducing a more structured approach to infrastructure and deployment automation. The result was a more resilient and manageable AWS platform that better supports OrderArt’s ongoing product development and business growth.
OrderArt's Sales Director, Gagan Singh, was pleased with the business outcomes with Gagan saying "I sincerely appreciate the efforts Raghava and Stuart have put into this project. Glad to have partnered with Habitat3 for our ongoing AWS DevOps requirements."

Hexicom
Disaster recovery and operational resilience
Habitat3 designed a multi-region disaster recovery solution for Hexicom that protects Australian workloads within Australia and US workloads within the United States, supporting data-sovereignty requirements in both jurisdictions. The solution replicates infrastructure between Sydney and Melbourne and between Virginia and Ohio, encrypts data and replication traffic, monitors replication health, uses short-lived snapshots to control storage costs, and moves DNS management to Amazon Route 53 to simplify regional failover.
This gives Hexicom a more secure, compliant and cost-efficient recovery capability with substantially improved operational resilience
Hexicom's Operations Manager, Adam Brown said “Habitat3 helped us design a disaster recovery strategy that aligns with our data sovereignty requirements while keeping the solution practical and cost-effective. The new architecture gives us confidence that we can recover quickly and continue supporting our customers without disruption.”
